"The fact is real! There's only 782 vacancies"

This year the number of vacancies are significantly lower than the previous years. As an aspirant myself, I should tell my fellow beings that never let this to be a reason to give up. You work hard, then you will be one in the 782 this year.

I would recommend every candidates who are aspiring to become an officer in the services such as Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Services, Indian Forest Services, Indian Foreign Services and 20 other departmental posts in the Central Government of India, to complete your registration as early as you can. Because most of the time I have myself witnessed people applying at the last moment and they are forced to write the examination in a centre which is far away from their preferred locations.

Notification including entire details and explanations, clauses, ias syllabus are now available on the website of UPSC, I.e. upsconline.nic.in. The registrations are live till March 6th.

Are you eligible to attempt the 2018 UPSC Prelims examination?

If you are between 21 and 32 years of age and have a graduate degree from any UGC recognized university, the answer for the above questions is, Yes. But you have to be between 21 and 32 years age as on August 1, 2018. It means if your 21st birthday comes after August 1st of this year, then unfortunately you have to wait, fortunately you got one more year to work hard. There is a relaxation in the upper age limit on the basis of reservation categories and according to the government rules and regulations. For those who are still a bit confused, just make sure that the birth date you are going to enter in the application form should be exactly the same in your Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC). Because UPSC won't consider any other proof of age.

Please make note that, to be an IAS or an IPS officer, you have to be an Indian Citizen. But for the rest of the services you can apply for the examinations even if you are from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet (Tibetan Refugees) and also if you are a Person of Indian Origin.

So who do you want to become? IAS or IPS ...

What is the examination selection process for UPSC Civil Services Examination 2018

If you wanna work for the Indian central government, you have to qualify and pass through the hurdles of Civil Services Examinations, period. Popularly known as the most toughest examination conducted in India, you have to pass through a three step process in order to secure a position in the final rank list. The first step is to clear the Preliminary Examination, which is of objective type including negative marking system. Those who are lucky enough get shortlisted in the Mains exam have to face the subjective examinations in selected disciplines. If you are the man you think you are, then you will be further shortlisted for the last and final step of Interview. The marks you obtain in both Mains and Interview are calculated to prepare the final rank list. You will be recruited to different services which I mentioned above on the basis of your position in the merit list.

"So that's it my fellow beings, Let me congratulate you for your brave step and determination to write this examination. That itself defined that you are born for this. Now continue your preparations for the rest of the time till Prelims"
